Why do I need a Tenant Concierge?

People always ask me, why do I need your Tenant Concierge Service?

The short answer is, you might not. Do you know exactly what you’re looking for and are clear on all the neighborhoods and areas where you are likely to find those options? Do you have the time, interest, and energy to comb the various online resources, reach out to owners, go see neighborhoods, make appointments, negotiate with the owner and assess their experience/legitimacy, and handle everything necessary to get through the lease signing without tanking the deal? Are you internet-savvy and understand the timing and nuance of the rental market, as well as your rights? Do you just love, love, love Craigslist searching? If the answer to these questions is YES, then perhaps you don’t need us. (Though you might still want to outsource to us – it’s definitely a job, even if you know how to do it!)

But maybe you are relocating to the Bay Area and don’t know the neighborhoods – or the average pricing in different areas, or the typical housing stock, or commute options and times, or school systems and nearby fun things to do. You have an idea of how you want to live, but you don’t know how to find it – and you have to start a new job and move your family by a certain, fast-approaching, date.

Maybe you are reasonably sure you could find a spot on your own, but you aren’t physically here. It’s incredibly difficult to get owners to pay attention to you long-distance, and having a licensed professional who is known in the area represent you and vouch for your tenant-worthiness goes a long, long way.

Maybe you have owned your home since 1977 but you’re selling it, and have to rent for a while before you buy something else. This is the first time you’ve had to rent since college and it seems altogether more complex and different. (You’re right – it is.)

Maybe you are going through a life change – a marriage, a death, a divorce, a baby – and don’t have the bandwidth to deal with finding new housing. You are planning to buy but you need to rent for a while first in order to let your life settle and make sure of your present before making a future home purchase.

In these scenarios, and in many others that we’ve encountered over the years, you could benefit greatly from turning over your search to us. We know moving can be a whirlwind, and we’ve got you.
