This stylish home has been lovingly maintained and has classy modern upgrades and well-preserved vintage touches (look at the lights and tile!) With its custom furnishings, large lower game room, and sunny rear deck with veggie garden, this is the perfect place to call home for a year.
This classic 1935 Mediterranean sits on a pretty 1-block street, perfectly situated between Glenview and Park Boulevard – just a stone’s throw from Farmer Joes, Paulista, and all the other great local shops and restaurants. A multi-colored flagstone path leads you to a short set of stairs up to the gorgeous original inlaid wooden front door with peek-a-boo window. From the entryway, the spacious living room is on your left, complete with working fireplace, original wall sconces, arched doorways, and a lovely floor-to-ceiling picture window overlooking the street. The living room flows into the formal dining room, outfitted with rustic dining table and chairs and awesome handmade bar shelving.
To the right of the entryway is the breakfast nook, complete with original built in cabinets, and original pendant light fixture. The yellow, enamel-topped table would make a great workspace, craft table, or informal dining spot. Through the breakfast room is the comfortable kitchen, with gooseneck faucet, stainless steel fridge, and 6 burner gas range, and dishwasher with chopping block top.
The first bathroom, just down the hall, is an ode to vintage design! It has a separate shower and deep tub, with immaculately maintained black and butter yellow tile and a vaulted ceiling with the original fixture. The serene primary bedroom has an ensuite bathroom with black and mint shower and overlooks the Oakland hillside and spacious deck below. The 2nd bedroom has an overhead ceiling fan, and is the smallest of the three. The 3rd bedroom, currently set up as an office, is spacious and bright, and similar in size to the primary.
From the central hallway, a staircase leads down to a fully converted lower level game room, complete with a pool table, shuffleboard table, and an area to lounge in to curl up and watch your favorite movie. There’s an awesome laundry/craft area with an updated washer/dryer, large industrial sink and countertop, and classy folding station: a perfectly preserved Wedgewood stove (no one else has a folding station like this, that’s for sure!)
The rear deck, accessible through the game room and from the staircase, is sunny and large. It has multiple lounge areas, a gas grill, a glorious flowering Jasmine bush, and a wall of planter boxes – all available for your enjoyment.
