Pretty 1920’s tudor home with vintage charm and modern amenities on historic Picardy Drive near Mills College. Available June 1 and can be rented furnished, unfurnished or partially furnished.
The carved wood front door leads to a spacious living room with a gas fireplace, built in bookcases, and wide windows that look out to the landscaped front lawn. An open doorway with original rounded edge molding leads to the central dining area. The dining room has the original wood and glass built-in breakfront with a pass-through to the spacious kitchen. The bright, updated kitchen is a perfect for the home chef, or just someone who is experimenting with sourdough starters! It’s in the rear of the house and has original Douglas fir floors, and tons of cabinet space. There are warm butcher block counters, stainless steel fridge and dishwasher, and vintage gas Wedgewood stove. The spacious pantry provides even more storage, and there’s a stacked washer and dryer closet as well. A cozy breakfast nook overlooks the flowering rear yard, and a glass door leads out to a small back deck and stairs down to the garden.
The sunny, large bedrooms are on the right side of the house, and you get to them either from the dining area or from the front foyer. The rear bedroom has another skylight and the other has a ceiling fan. Super fresh updated bathroom, with subway tile and walk-in glass shower, and another skylight.
A gate and fence separates the front driveway from the rear driveway and lovely yard, which is maintained by a gardener and has flowering trees and a sunny central patio with a table and chairs, perfect for a morning coffee or an evening beverage.
More storage is available in the spacious attic, and tenants may use up to half of the rear garage area for storage if the home is rented furnished. There’s parking for two compact cars on either side of the rear gate, plus plenty of street parking on this quiet block. The commuter bus to SF picks up at the corner and two BART stations (Fruitvale, Coliseum) are close by.
Tenants pay $150 toward utilities (water, garbage, gardener) and are responsible for PGE and internet/cable. Non-smoking environment, and please no toxic or strongly scented products. An adult, well-behaved dog is considered, but sorry, no cats (allergy). One year lease only (owner plans to return) but there is some flexibility on the end date.
